The first step of your event is obtaining permission to have the event. Road race events can cover a good amount of space in an area and this may be on public property that you local council controls or private property that someone else controls. It is important to obtain permission from these parties for a number of reasons:

–          It may be illegal to host an event on streets or in certain areas without permission

–          It is much safer to let the right people know, so they can help provide a safe environment (close down roads, police traffic)

The best way to go about this is by contacting your local police to find the right people to get in touch with. Every area is different, but finding the right people to talk to is always important in the first step of putting on your road race event.

Most areas will also require you to have some Insurance for the race as well. It would be good to find out what is needed first if you do not know how to pursue getting Insurance for your event.

After obtaining these items the next step is to start figuring out your Budget for your event while also looking to Sponsors to help fund the event.
